Were we already wearing Jeans when the encyclopedia was invented?
With Timeline, find the answer to this question and thousands of others by confronting your knowledge or intuitions with historical reality.
At the start of the game, the players all receive the same number of cards representing monuments, inventions, etc. There is a date on the back of each card.
To begin with, a card is drawn at random from the cards not dealt to the players. It is placed in the center of the table facing the visible date and constitutes the starting point of a chronological line which will be gradually completed by the players.
The first player then chooses one of their cards. If he thinks that the date on which his card was invented predates that of the original card, he places his card to the left of it. If he believes that his invention was created afterwards, he places his card to the right of the initial card.
The player's card is then turned over, face up. If he's right, it stays in place. Otherwise, his card is discarded and he must draw another to replace it. The game continues clockwise.
The more cards that are placed, the more difficult it is to lay new ones without making a mistake and the first player to place their last card wins!
