Shadows of Macau places the player at the head of a gang in the city of the same name. On each turn, he will have to make a choice between:
- Contact an informant to provide him with certain resources on time.
- Recruit a new gang member (who has a prior cost in resources, but thanks to which he will also obtain them in a lasting way by having someone dedicated to them, and who will allow him to take advantage of his special talents of killer, trader, etc.),
- And get hold of real estate with a particular profitability.
As the game progresses, resources accumulate more and more quickly in front of the player. The race for control of the city is intensifying. Once all of the buildings in it have been sold or a player has recruited 7 gang members, the game ends and the richest clan wins.
